adding tranny fluid to oil

Anyone hear of adding transmission fluid to the oil? I've now heard this twice?

Haven't tried it with anything approaching a recent vintage - don't know what it would do to pollution and other sensors, for example - but on an older 283 / 327 / 350 type of engine, a cup of tranny fluid in the oil would (because of its high detergent nature) do a respectable job of cleaning noisy hydraulic lifters and then burn itself off.

Yes, that means it is cleaning the engine. Then you carefully watch the oil pressure, when it goes to nothing, you pull the pan, clean the pick-up tube on the oil pump and hope for the best...;)
