I converted all my vehicles to that Dextron red . My cars, 82 Suburban and motorcycxle. My VW is still green. I know a few people who have gone back to green because they say its eating the blocks and causing leaks and damage.

I've heard from several people that the red stuff eats away intake manifolds. How true? I don't know.
I don't have the article anymore but there was definitely some incompatibilities between the DexCool and some of the gaskets and stuff in some engines. I would not use dexcool in any vehicle, just not worth the risk. Regular green will easily last 4 to 5 years.
What's wrong with the simple answer of use what your vehicle manufacturer recommends?
My 2003 Silverado still has the same coolant that was in it when it was new. The radiator cap has never been open. 6 years, 90,000 miles and never had a problem. One of these days I'm gonna get around to changing it. Should I use a different type? I've always been told, "If it ain't broke, Don't fix it"
Replace it wth the manufacturer's recommended coolant for that engine.
