Cold weather probliem in Silverado?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me a few ideas about what this could be. I'm not a mechanic and I thought I would ask some experts.

When I crank my 1999 silverado in cold weather it's fairly noisy (not the piston slap) and when I back up it almost goes dead. When I first put it in drive it almost goes dead but once I get going it's fine all day. Other than that the engine runs perfectly. It's extremely quiet.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be causing this.

I'm assuming the "Service Engine Soon" light isn't on at all? Does it start up as quickly as it used to or does it take longer for it to fire than it did before? Also, describe the noise it makes................banging, grinding, what?

Last time she had a tune up?

Last time fuel filter was changed?

No light comes on. I just get a few months ago so I don't know if it has had a tune up but it runs great. The noise is more of a shake when it first starts up in cold weather. I changed the fuel filter so I know it's not that. It starts up perfectly.
