Don't know about the newer trucks, but jiggle that hazard switch a bit. It is a total piece of crap on the older chev trucks and doesn't seem to have a positive seating position.

if so..... Multi Lever Position Sensor

Your MLPS is most likely out of adjustment, causing your symptom.

or......it's bad.

It's on the drivers side of the tranny, it has two wireing harness connectors on it. There IS an adjustment. There's a tool out for aligning the MLPS to specs.

However.... you could jest loosen up the bolts and give er a little tweek till the revearse lights went out. Just make sure it still cranks in "P" and "N", and the indicator on the instrument panel is in the correct position for each detent on the shifter. Then carry it for a test drive and make sure the tranny is shifting good.

Word of caution..... They don't jest get out of adjustment. Someone had to have been messing with it, if it's out.

So...it could be bad. Which is more common.
