NEW MFI injector assembly for Silv. 4.3L Vortec

I went to the dealership and they said the cause of my misfire was more than likely 1 or more fuel injectors, especially since it started on the very cold day, gumming up the poppets on the old injectors. I guess there has been a load of these "old injectors" going bad around the 60-100 thousand mile mark" and the new injector assembly rids of the poppets. My question is:

I pretty much want a second opinion. Since this was a random misfire, would the injectors cause a RANDOM misfire?

Also, I looked on

formatting link
and the WHOLE new MFI assembly is

147.00 (including 6 injectors) and the old injectors alone are 70 bucks a piece. Something doesn't sound right to me? Someone told me the reason is because GM doesn't want to "recall" all these engines. Anyone else concure with this or is there another reason, or am I gonna regret this purchase?

Thanks

"JQuigs1977" is because GM doesn't want to "recall" all these engines. Anyone else

No way to tell without monitoring the data stream while driving/idling and misfire is present. An exhaust gas analyzer maybe, but without a tech 2 to get real-time data or exhaust analyzer, you have no way to know exactly what it is.

This would be a good starting point without further computer diagnosis IMO.

Yah, We took off the air intake and throttle body to look inside to see if there was any wash from the FPR and decided to check the poppets and overall condtion of the injectors. Well, in doing that we found 1 bad one (cracked on the top seal) so I didn't want to screw with that and then started asking around on information on these things and heard a lot of negative stuff about them and was told about the new MFI injector assembly. And if it's true, only 147.00 for the whole thing, I'd like to replace everthing for a grand total of 236.00 instead of having this to happen again with the other 5 injectors.

Thanks for all your help
