Problems with topcoatings on Chevrolets?

Hi all,

today I have been to a car dealer to lokk at a black 2003 Chevrolet SSR (yes the convertible).

It is a funny car and I fancy it, but we went away due to the fact that the transparent top coating started to give out. On the sharp edges (dors, trunk and around the wheels) we could see that the top layer started to wear off. Not big parts, but it looks like washing the car might make it worse. So we went home.

Is this a known problem for Chevrolet ? Or for any specific model ?

I think the only thing that can be done is sand the car completely up to the black and spray paint it again in black. Agree ? That is not a nice option to start your new purchase with.

I'd like to hear your opinions on the Chevrolet paint quality.

Yeah, have to agree. I've seen this too.
