Proper front wheel bearing tightening sequence and torque.....

I have the 2wd/rwd S10 pickup that has the hubs integrated into the brake rotors. The factory service manual has a seperate procedure to follow to adjust the front wheel bearings. In the procedure they say you have to rotate the rotor clockwise while at the same time tighening the spindle nut to a maximum torque of 11 ft-lbs.

My Haines manual uses the same technique but tighens the nut to 20 ft-lbs instead of 11.

I've seen other manuals that say to tighten them to32 ft-lbs.

Can the bearings actally seat with only 11 ft-lbs of force being applied.?

Seat them with 20 or so then back em off and go with about 11. You want all the play out but you dont want them tight.
