Specialty Chevy 88-93 electric fan kits?

I remember seeing in Summit a few years back of a company that made a complete kit for chevy's 88-93 which included electric fans, harnesses, and shroud to bolt up and replace the clutch fan. The kit cost about $400. I cannot seem to find such a kit on summit's website. Anyone remember who made these kits? Or am I just dreaming? Thanks.

Probably for that extra 0.36 HP the electric fan supposedly "frees" up!

So how does one fix a clutch fan that's not working properly, -very hard to turn/spin when cold or in other words the motor is working all the time spinning it.

my clutch fan hasnt worked for 2 years, and when it did, it did nothing to stop the truck from overheating when it's 90F outside and you're stopped a really long stop light or at drive-through that was moving slowly. Honestly, ive been driving it with no active cooling for this long, and ive gotten by -- yeah, that stock clutch fan does a lot, eh? Yeah, right.

So, why replace something that doesn't work with something that doesn't work? I couldn't care less about the additional horsepower.. if i wanted that, I wouldn't have a stock engine with no modifications whatsoever.

So, i guess none of you have ever seen this kit. Oh well. I guess i dreamed it up. Ill have to figure out how to mount some electric fans and wire it all up myself :(

Thanks

If you buy a dual fan setup pulling at LEAST 4000cfm's, get one with a thermostatic switch. All she needs is +12V and ground and the switch will do the rest.

SURE !

Convert mechanical power to electricity, then convert it back, losing about

40% in the process !!!!

new fan clutch ~ $40... elec. fan kit ~$400.... nope doesn't make much sense at all. if you buy the HD fan clutch, it'd solve your problems for 1/10 the cost.

not to mention the loss in converting to electricity and back..............

Doc, thanks. That's the sort of thing I was hoping to get if the kit didn't exist, which i guess it doesnt. I'll have a look around at fans and make sure to get some that blow 4000+cfm. That is 4000cfm for both right? Not each? Thanks for the tips :)

Yes, 4,000 cfm combined airflow. Most dual fan setups are universal fit so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one that fits right. I'd still recommend a mechanical fan clutch as the mech fan pulls a helluva lot more air than the electric kits do.
