Suburban towing option question

Looking at 2002 and 2003 Suburbans on cars.com. They list "Trailer Towing Preparation" in the options. Is this the towing package with all components?

It's a dealer and I'm not interested in making contact yet... it's like petting a dog, they'll never leave you alone...

I highlighted the area in question.

Reads like a window sticker:

Standard Equipment: Remote Power Locks Includes Trunk/Hatch, Front Power Windows With One One-Touch, Rear Power Windows, Cruise Control, *Trailer Towing Preparation*, Four-Wheel ABS, Four Disc Brakes Including Four Ventilated Discs, Driver And Passenger Front Airbag, Front Side Airbag, Peripheral Anti-Theft Protection, Rear Air Conditioner,...

It could mean that the truck comes with the factory trailoring option, which is probably nothing more than a receiver and 4-wire connector. Usually if it has the 7 wire connector and auxiliary tranny and oil coolers they list it as Heavy Duty Trailoring Package. Either way, you will have to do some more work to get it setup to tow anything more than a small utility trailer.

I have the oil cooler, tranny cooler, 7 wire connection and 10,000 lb hitch on my 95.

A few listed list 6001-10000 towing capacity specifically.

I should have said that you would need to add an electric brake controller to tow anything more than a small utility trailer, instead of just being vague about needing to do some more work on the tow setup. As far as I know, none of the trucks or SUVs come from the factory with a brake controller. Those with the HD trailering options usually come with the 7 wire connector and a pig-tail to use when hooking up your electric brake controller. Depending on the truck and trailer, you may need to add a weight distributing hitch to get the full rated tow capacity.

You could contact the dealer and ask for a list of the options that were factory installed (listed on the sticker in the glove box). Before I bought my current Silverado, I was looking at a 2003 1500 that the used car dealer said had the factory HD tow package. I checked the glove box and could not find the Z82 rpo code in the glove box. The truck also did not have a 7 wire connector on the rear bumper. I walked away from the dealership when they said that not all HD trailering packages came with the 7 wire connector.

I found the following rpo codes for Suburban with the HD trailering equipment package (these codes should be on the sticker in the glovebox):

2002 - Z82 & UY7 2003 - PDZ
