wiper motor on a 67 truck

mine doesn't work, and I (as of this minute) don't have a haynes or chilton book, but I'm getting one. However, I can easily move my wiper arms manually. Does that mean anything?

Everytime I get the motor hooked up (what I think is) correct, it blows a fuse. So I'm thinking it's a short in the circuit (or the wiring is wrong, the guy before me re-arranged all the wiring and labled nothing) or the chevy gods are mocking my purchase. Of course, it might be something else.

any ideas?

Try running a hot and ground directly to the motor, if it works its the switch or wiring, if it smokes, it the motor.

smoked. I checked it out yesterday, and it was like a chimney.
