Regarding the LS and it's sales:

"The overall mid-size premium car market is a key battleground in the U.S. car market -- with sales growing 50 percent since 1996 to 435,000 units. According to Lincoln, they expect to sell at least 35,000 LS sedans a year. The division has told dealers it plans to build a high-performance version of the LS within the next year or two, setting itself apart from the likes of Cadillac by taking the same tack it's sister, Jaguar, did. A limited production Lincoln LS-R would help solidify in consumer's minds the appeal of Lincoln against the sporty BMW."

I've always felt that a big problem with the LS was that it was underpowered. You can get either a 3.0L v-6 or 3.9L v-8. And you pay a lot for a wimply little V-8 that got you something like 260 hp. The

2003 v-8 has variable valve timing and claims 280 hp.
