FS: Lotus Europa

Hi I have acquired an old Lotus Europa 1971 (J Reg). Currently I have no V5 or even the keys. It is basically a restoration project for someone with a lot of spare time. Body is not bad, but engine is out. That is, it's physically in the garage behind the car. What's the best way to get rid of this? Does it have any real value? I have seen other similar cars for sale (for several months). Would really not want to get it towed for £50. Ta.

Sounds like an ideal breaker. There must be an owners' club somewhere - might be a good start.

IMHO it would depend on the spec. Some have twin cam Ford engines and five speed boxes. Just the engine for one of those would be worth quite a bit. Lesser models had a Renault engine and 4 speed box.

Assuming it is reasonably complete and a runner when assembled. I'd expect it to fetch at least 2500 quid. But if the engine was removed because of some major problem, or if the chassis is rusted through, it could be less.

As has been said, approach the owner's club. They might have a member local to you who could look at it and advise.
