1996 dodge caravan

I have a 96 caravan that recently had its transmission rebuilt. Two weeks ago, it started making a high pitched whistling sound when the car was in drive or reverse. The noise does stop when the brakes are applied. The brakes were done two years ago and because it was suggested to us, all the belts were looked at. Any one have any idea what needs to be looked at now?
