Battery Light

My daughter's 2000 Breeze, 2.4L, 96K, has developed an intermittent problem with the battery light. Seems that it illuminates at various times with no discernable pattern e.g.: speed, temp, rpm, etc. Car seems to start and run ok. Now she told me that recently all of the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel while driving, gauges went to zero, odometer went blank, and then everything came back to normal. This has happened once. She also says that when the battery light is on, the odometer reading seems to flicker. The battery was replaced with a new Mopar battery about 60 days ago in preparaton for the sub zero nights we have been experiencing. I checked the connections at the PCM and they seem tight. Any thoughts?

You checked the connections at the PCM???? Why not check the connections at the battery since it was recently installed?

Just a thought.

Check ALL the grounds first. If they are OK I suspect the alternator brushes. Did you spill some antifreeze on the alternator by chance? If so, you may need the slip rings polished and the brushes replaced. Take the alternator off and take it to a reputable auto electric specialist and have it tested and repaired as necessary. It should not be necessary to replace the whole unit.

Not a charging problem but a bus (communication) problem. have someone run a scan test on the vehicle to monitor charging system and all other data in all the modules
