Sorry to Keep asking stupid questions but can any body tell me what the difference is between the hall effect sensor and the cam position sensor is and where they are located on a 1999 ram 2500 with 5.9 gas engine

The cam position sensor is a hall effect sensor (meaning that it provides a voltage based on magnetic induction). It's located in the distributor base on the 5.2/5.9 engine. You can get to it by removing the cap and rotor.
