Are your headlight lenses getting cloudy?

Ever notice all the older Neons, minivans, Intrepids and some Fords on the road suffering from opaque lenses? I even spotted an older Mercedes developing the problem. It is unacceptable that we have to constantly buff or replace cloudy, yellow polycarbonate plastic headlight lenses because Chrysler and Ford were too cheap to specify a few cents worth of UV protection in the plastic mix. Headlight performance on these cars was mediocre when new. It is a downright hazard when cateracts set in.If you are as mad as hell about this problem as I am, and want to tell someone about it, click on the link below and let the NHTSA know that you have trouble seeing road hazards and pedestrians while driving at night. Demand a recall, an enforced  new standard, and a permanent fix. Glass was good.

H6 engine v. H4 in Subaru Outback wagon

My husband and I are thinking of buying an Outback. Probably a used2003 model. We've only gotten the chance to drive the standard H4engine. Is it worth it to get the H6? Right now I drive a 98 ToyotaCorolla and although its a great car I hate how it takes so long tospeed up. I dont want to buy an H4 to only wish I had gone the H6route. Does anyone have any experience with this?

R13 refrigerant replacement

Greetings, fellow humans.I'm in possession of one '92 Toyota Previa with A/C that needs filling badly. The thing is that it has been using refrigerant of the type "R13". And the a/c filling shops around here all claim never having heard of such. Their response is along the lines: "It's R12, not R13. There is no such thing as R13".However there is "R13" printed on the instrument panel, below the speedo, and I would be tempted to believe it is not just a practicaljoke on behalf of frustrated Toyota workers.So help me out here if you can. Rant:My parked 13 yr owned car got reversed into by an unknown driver, bumper bent torn but car's a write-off - as it's only worth £200 (Why am I paying for comprehensive Esure insurance that will scam me the first £250 of a claim, then give me £200 back as they won't fix it?Why is third party only insurance more expensive?Why is (breathes for air) insurance such a rip off?I'm tempted for my next car comprehensive insurance quote to put the value of the car down as 1 pound, might that get a lower quote and I could put the savings in the kitty for the next motor?Grrrrr, got to find a replacement banger now.Best value 5 yr old estate anyone? replacing an Octavia which I've found pretty reliable. Polishing my headlights

3 weeks ago I polished my headlight lenses. They came out great. I had replaced a bulb and noticed again how cloudy they were, 2005 car. It took about 2 hours but would have taken less if my back didn't hurtand I had to sit down over and over, and if then I didn't startlistening to the radio on the day that the presidential election wascalled.  So maybe an hour. Instructions said to wash the lenses. Also to mask the painted part around the lenses.   I had 3 rolls ofmasking tape, the youngest 25 years old.  I checked in advance and thefirst roll worked fine, stuck fine, came off fine, but on the day I didthis, I couldn't tear off an 10" piece without it ripping at 4 inches.I didn't test for that.  But the 3rd roll worked. Use Surface Activator, from the second kit, near the bottom. Then for this kit, 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System, 39008  said: One kit may not be enough.
