2nd gen front rotor interchange?

Does any other GM use an interchangeable front rotor? With the abuse my dirt track Camaro has seen I'm reluctant to buy a new rotor only to have to drill it out and chew it up...

It seems all the other GM's used 10.5" disks and the F's used 11" disks.

2nd Gen F's seem to be getting pretty scarce in the junkyards around here...

And by abuse I mean: One busted rad. One snapped balljoint. Multiple loose wheelstuds (thus the upgrade to 5/8" studs.) One broken ujoint. I managed to spin the idler 180 degrees so the centerlink was at a 30 degree angle. Two shredded tires. (Both NEW ones... the old cheap ones are just fine.) Is 270 degrees too hot? All I can say is SBC's are tough. Still has good compression after running it at 240+... (and now that I say that it'll probably blow this weekend...)

*** I run 5w50 synthetic in there... I give it a lot of credit for keeping together at those temps... Oh and the front bumper got torn clean off last race... And all this in TWO races.

well, the last price I saw was $70 CDN new for rotors... my wife would kill me if I bought two parts cars... and shipping them to Canada might be a bit much. ;)

Then what is a decent price for 4 front rotors off two parts cars, considering you'd hafta pay shipping, I'll give you a great deal if I can, the cars are going to the shredder in a week or two. $74 ton for junk cars right now, I have 7 vehicles that is going within a month =]

I think X body cars among others use those rotors. But, I wouldn't gamble on used parts AT ALL.

Get cheap new ones (off brand Raybestos or something like that). At least they are new. Probably $50 a pair or so. I got a 78 z-28, not parted out yet besides the motor/tranny and I got a 77 Type LT that's complete, flash rust on all body parts where both had been sanded and not painted, 77 sat for two years. the 78 I drove until last weekend, I took the engine and tranny out. I'm located near Louisville, KY. I'd really love to see these cars get parted instead of shredded. glass is good in both cars, the interior is salvageable, the seats are ripped in the front, haven't paid any attention to the backs. Not worth fixing up, but GREAT parts cars.

I don't have my old hollander any more (my current one doesn't go back that far), but I remember small bolt B-bodys (mostly buicks) till 78 had the same rotors. I think the Delco number is 18A1. Charles

Easiest way to determine donor cars (well, most of them):

Go to

formatting link
and look up a stock rotor for your car. Get the Delco part #.

On that site there is a "where used" function. That will tell you, by Delco sales #, which parts are used on the same car. Print it out and go find your donor car.

As a sidenote, Delco's Durastop line is merely reboxed Raybestos product at a higher price. :) Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 26k orig. Excellent!

I know I should buy new parts, but with the abuse I put the stuff through I'm starting to get cheap - $200 worth of tires in the last race totally shredded...

That's one of the resources I use. Since Hollander's don't list some items. Not to mention the general knows better then they do whets the same and what aint. Charles

Thanks for the warning. The cross reference site is great when it comes to knowing which cars I can rob a sensor from to test with. With the number od cars we have, walking outside and robbing a sensor is quick and easy.

I like the fact that it also works for other makers vehicles as well. Charles
