Poser among us!!!!!

What probs do you have with my nearly completely unmoded car which runs better than 5.0 TBIs?

I do not need such NONSENSE like K&N filters (you gain dirty air full of tiny particles but not more than 3 HP / your MAF sensor will be glad!)

and Hurst shifters (to shift FASTER!!!! ... on which race track do you live? Or do you drive occasionally on the regular highway with unbelievable 55 mph? Look, my shifting points are as follows: 34 / 87 / 108 mph ... yes, it shifts even to the 4th gear if floored!!!!)

and the COLD AIR INTAKE (what a shit!!!! Yes, of course you will have some single HP more ... but for what? The often proclaimed +25HP are simply a lie. The only gain is a decreased mileage. Dont say you know it better. I tried this out for more than 150000 mls on different cars. The same is valid for a 160° or so thermostat instead of a 180+ one).

I wonder. You do as if on the race track but even on a freeway or expressway you cannot drive freely. For what reason do you need 10 or may be 20% more horsepower on cars who have about 300 HP out of the show room?? Dont tell me .. I know. Its for enlarging you and makes you mOre man (who needs).

Vive la FRANCE!

Anyone who is enamored with the ICE wouldn't even ask these questions.

hi, John Boys,

plonk, and a K&N Hurst Cold air HeMan is found!

Yesss!

How is my English, boy? Did it not improve? Remember, this is not my mother`s language. But I think, my English is better than your first foreign language you have learned, isn`t it? Isn`t my punctuation better?

Now, to start chatting, is the V45 Magna the Italian Bike? We know a Moto Guzzi V45.

What`s the "ICE"? Do you think on the Inter City Express with speeds of 160+ mph (today) and much more in future? If yes, what has it to do with asking questions?

Apparently she doesn't know what plonk means either. I couldn't respond to her because...well...she's PLONK'd like I do the rest of the trolls.

HeMan? You'd be surprised. Either way, I know I'm more man than she is.

To the idiot I plonked, my first language was Italian. I guarantee my second language (English) is better than yours.

Uh, you truly are a clueless ass aren't upi? L&N filters are more efficient. They also clean better.

A faster shifter simply means crisper performance and less time lost to the process of rowing the stick. Also means you won't miss shift and grenade your engine.

Once again more efficient. No, a thermosatat change is not a valid comparison and will probably make a modern computer controlled, fuel injected car run worse.

300 horses out of a bone stock V6? Order me one will ya? BTW, there is no such thing as too much power. Ever.

Funny. The above was posted by yourself 2 messages up the tree.

/me snickers. No, I will not buy a bridge.

I know all about K&N filters and wouldn't use on on my lawnmower.

I don't have a hurst shifter.

Shows how ignorant you are of this country. Double Nickle isn't everywhere, you know. Ask someone from Montana what the limit is.

Oh joy!

You obviously know nothing about me, or my cars...

I could ask you the same thing. You claim to have this 'unmodified 6cyl' that will, by your obviously embellished description, rip the fabric off the seats due to wind resistance...

Nice attempt at an insult. If you're going to continue throwing these lames around we all will quickly lose interest in you. I suggest at the least looking up an insult generator to help you. You see, you're nothing more than Cheese Wiz to this group...so I hereby dub you Cheese Wiz.

I like my Hurst shifter even if it is almost 30 years old. Did you know that Hurst has a full rebuild/rechroming service? Pretty cheap for the service they provide. Anyway it's the only shifter that has ever been in the car, a factory Hurst.

As for tracks, Bradenton Motorsports Park, Silver Dollar, Norwalk and Indianapolis Raceway Park. Of the four I think Norwalk is the best track and when I'm there I camp in the pits. IRP is great as it also has a road course and a Busch Track. There are a lot of hotels nearby so we usually end up taking one over for a 4 day event. I have friends near Silver Dollar and stay at their place when I'm up that way but you will usually find me at BMP on Thursdays, some Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I never made it to Steele this year but I hear it's a cool track. On Friday nights the fog rolls in and you can't see the boards when you launch.

Next year I plan to add VMP and Memphis to my list.

Racing on the streets is stupid. BTW, the speed limit here is 70 and you have to be doing over 80 to get pulled. But when you have a real 600 hp on tap, going slow is cool. ;^)

My old shift scheme was something like this: 5500, 5500, 5500, go through the traps at 120 mph in a 4000lb car.

As far as shifting, I'd like to see you bang the gears in an old 4 speed with out lifting on the pedal OR the naaaaws button. (Here's a hint - forget the clutch) ;^)

A note for Martin: My block is finally done, picking it up tomorrow with the crank, rods and pistons. I can't wait to run the new 455 with a 6500 pill, a lightweight rotating assembly, 4.10s and a 5 speed.

Newsflash: No one cares. When you get a clue, come talk shop with me old boy.

France? Aren't they the fools that made Peugeot and Renault? Neither of them are any good---that is of course unless you need a nice flat hood to stand on in the junkyard.

Even at that, the hood will be rotten and you might fall through---thanks to the lovely French "craftsmanship".

Keep your Perrier (which has been shown to have arsenic in it based on tests done to it), Renaults, Merlot, and everything about France.

Learn to spell as well. It's embarrassing to talk to someone that spells worse than my four year old nephew.

DUDE!

/me sobs in envy!

Make sure to take some pics of the parts before/during/after the assembly.

I'm assuming the drop in displacement form 462 to 455 will net more torque off the line, aye? (Dunno what your hp/torque curves will look like.) Do you plan to dyno after you assemble?

Next thing you know, you'll be putting in an hydraulic tranny brake. :p

How many passes do you think you'll get out of your clutch?

At the track I don't run an air filter, just a 3 inch opening shaker.

Just got off the phone with my brother. He said if I don't make VMP this year he's going to kick my butt. He needs to pick it up two seconds to catch me. ;^)

Don't worry about pictures, there are already a bunch. The engine is a being built by two shops and the goal is for me to submit a writeup when its done to a Chevy mag and see if the publish it. It's sort of like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a writeup can save you LOT'S of money. ;^)

Actually, it will be a 463, I said 455 since it's the common term. I've been through so many iterations of bore and stroke I'm getting lost. We settled on the 463 because it uses a stock stroke and I want to run a lot 'o nitrous.

I should send you a shot of the dyno curves on the old 462 with a 5500 rev limit. The hp curve was till climbing when the rpm limit was met. The new cam is good to 7800 rpm but the bottom end won't hold unless I spend huge bucks on a billet crank and that ain't happening, not this time at least.

I'm going to run this with a manual tranny, everyone thinks I'm nuts but it can be done to the mid 10s, after that it's a real bitch to hit the gears and the squeeze and keep it straight. I do have line locks though. ;^)

I'm getting a steeper 1st gear and a big jump in the axle ratio so my clutch problems should be a less of a concern. Remember this is still an A/C P/S P/B street car my wife sometimes drives to work and also races so I can't run a super stiff three finger clutch. It's all in how you launch and how fast you can his the naaaws. At Indy I ran 12.80s at 120 on BFG radials, not drag radials. If I had a few more runs I'll bet I could have shaved at least a tenth off of that. Radial tire heads up racing rocks!

I have to get up a 4 am so it's time to pack for a short business trip. I'll get some pictures and more information later this week or early next week. Just don't expect me to tell the truth about everything. ;^)

NICE!

I hope to be able to say the same soon. I've been saving an SxS 12, but the DE 50 is definitely on my wish list.

I still got the story you sent me btw. Just re-read it and got another chuckle.

Logically the guy makes some sense. But emotions aren't about logic. Taking an interest in tweaking, a lot or a little, to squeeze a bit more performance can be a source of pride or sense of accomplishment. Sometimes it's not about weather you actually drive 160+mph, it about knowing that you could. It's not like the false pride that some ricers have when they throw on meaningless decals. It's a real pride that you took something good and improved performance. So in short, it's not really about the car, it's about the person.

Being cirtified has never mattered to me. I never went to any school for what I do.

Im also one of the few people left out there that tries to bring other people in to the trade the old ways.

I don't expect people to know heavy duty trucks, I don't know them that well. I do expect people who go thru a training and cirtifaction, as well as present them selfs as A.S.E cirtified in such to know it. The Cummings N-14 is a Semi Engine, the N-14 Plus is a upgraded version. Been out for over a decade, rather prominate in fleets. If I hire someone trained in both auto & heavy truck service, you can bet I will start servicing heavy trucks. As a few owner operators already bring me their cars, and would their trucks as well.

Even last night I gave old jason a second chance. I told him to disassemble a old swing arm exercise machine. Told him to use any tool he saw fit from a rather well stocked roll-a-way. Even told him he could use a sledge hammer. The whole purpous? make it small enough for the trash service to take. What do I get? asked how to do it, then having to show how to do it. Im sorry Anyone who went to a school and passed should be able to do basic mechanic teardown, and not have to be shown how to use tools.

I really do try to give people a fair shake, I think this one is a dreamer, who needs to go back to school. Charles

Moved here to RI in August. Been having a pretty good time. Driving a nice truck for a living and spending the rest of my time in said company... Now that I have internet service again, I'm sure I'll be around more.
