Re: slightly OT- funny ricers on TV

lol I saw Super 2NR TV today as well, just for laughs. They were

> rambling on about some VW for a good five minutes, and not once did > they even mention a time in the quarter. Sad... Too bad, the car > didn't look that bad (V6, 4wd, too bad it looked like a Golf). > > Ever notice they they're not actually part of the "Powerblock?" They > run just before the shows that usually deal with real cars. > > At least that psycho Michelle Spaziano (sp?) has finally calmed down > enough so that she's actually bearable.

Unless she starts appearing butt naked they should dump her shit. I take that back, they should just dump her period. That and the 2NR TV. And the ads that run over the programs. And maybe show the frigging programs in order. And while they're at it bring back Shadetree Mechanic and add Popular Hot-Rodding TV, My Classic Car, Hot Rod TV, and Dream Car Garage. Then dump the fishing shows.

I watch them b/c occasionally they will have some REAL import muscle (we just get the ****, everyone over in japan is driving Skylines and TT Supras, not this civic SI and celica GT garbage we get) . I enjoy the segments on Supras and the like and the occasional German turbo car that they hop up, but last week was abysmal, even HP TV is gettin kinda sketchy w/ that Honda they threw thousands of $$ at to get it to like 160HP. On a side note, someone mentioned them never talking about 1/4 times on the import shows, thats a trend, the magazines never mention HP either. I think they are embarassed : )

Isn't "import muscle" an oxymoron? ;) It cracks me up that these guys put thousands of dollars into an import. It's like chroming a turd. Put the same money into a real car and they could actually go fast.

The twins on that show have their own website. twinsturbo.com. They have some decent credentials, including building one of the first serious U.S. Toyota Supras with Vinny Ten of The Performance Factory in New York, but it says they parted ways in 1999, and I can't remember if Vinny's car was all that fast before 1999. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if the twins really do know what they are doing but have to play the slow, bling-bling cars up for the TV show. The VW GTi on there had good gains for $3000 (which of course could be done cheaper), it gained about 70hp and 70lbs-ft at the wheels. Good gains, but it was still only at 200 of each at the wheels. Not bad power on such a small car, though.

The show is growing on me. They do put forth mostly-accurate information and do showcase some more serious imports, as well as a nice domestic now and then. One can only hope showing guys trash-talking to each other right before running 16.7s is maybe just an inside-joke by the producers.

I saw dump the gal, she's ugly and fake anyway. A few 4x4 shows being added wouldn't hurt either.

Ferrari, Porche, Lamborgini, etc.

I'd pay to see someone do that.

I don't think we were bringing imports that cost 6 figures into the mix, but what the hey, exotic qualifies as imported muscle.

there are some import cars that I would qualify as muscle (most are not available over here anymore). I'd say the Supra TT and skyline GTR would be good starters (and have HUGE upgrade potential, head on over to to4r.com to see what I'm talking about). The Nissan Silvia (240sx w/ turbo engine) was awesome too but never made it over here. Dont get me wrong, i'd take a Z06 over any of the above mentioned, im just saying that the japanese do have a penchant for making fast cars, its just the stupid american kids that buy the junk models to race instead of f-bodies.

Do you expect parents to pay for insurance on a big ol' V8 so some retarded high school kid can go out and kill themselves? Well, I paid for my own insurance, but had a '68 V8 Stang when I was 15, I guess my parents didn't care much for me...

Kinda makes me laugh when the biggest mod in the car is a DVD player.

Couldn't agree more, especially since they dumped the pretty-boy. Stacey needs to stop laughing at EVERYTHING though. He sounds like Dr. Hibbard.

They can kill off the hunting shows too, they just make me sick.

It's weird watching the Powerblock with a relaxed Michelle though. I can't help but wonder what the producers told her. ;o)

I agree with your show choices except for "My Classic Car". I just can't take that guy seriously, with his moustache that he could hang his keys off of.

lol She must be getting a shot of Nyquil before each show now.
