These lights flash exactly 6 times every 1 to 2 minutes while driving. Is this an indication that a sensor or a relay is going out? Doesn't seem to effect the vehicle when it is in or out of 4WD.

It is an indication that the computer controlling the 4WD unit has an error code. I spent close to a 1,000 trying to diagnose the problem. for the past
4 years I have ignored it.What I have seen on this group is that it is often caused by a wheel sensor. My current mechanic says it can also be caused by an actuator not functioning correctly. About 18 months ago he told me that Ford had a service bulletin out. After the $35.00 computer code upgrade it went about a year until it returned.
I however am not an expert on this problem but it has been often reported and discussed on this group.
