I have a rattling noise in my car, I took it to get it checked out and they said it was the catalytic converter, and that I needed to replace it. How accurate is this diagnosis? And what else if anything could be rattling?

If that's the case, I'd pull the cat and shake it around myself. Don't know about this year/model, but on the 96 sport it's held on by 4 bolts. You'll probably need to buy some new bolts to reattach it (if yours are as rusted as mine were).

One place I took mine to suggested tapping it with a hammer to check for rattling. Maybe a rubber hammer would be best :-)

I had a rattling noise coming from around my catalytic converter. One day after getting sick of hearing it, I climbed under my truck and found a loose clamp. 30 seconds later it was fixed.
