eighties inline 6 -Where are the fuel filters, and

how do I change them? I have an '82 F-100 longbed with dual tanks. The engine is an '86 4.9 300 c.i. inline 6. I had a "falling out" with my mechanic and we don't speak any more. He has said there is a filter in each tank. It LOOKS like I have a 'screw on' filter @ the carb exterior (1 barrel). Do I get down under the truck and follow the lines? I keep the tank switch on "FRONT" because the rear tank is too rusty to use. I'll get one from J.C Whitney, but worried about these filters now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
