Explorer lug wrench

I snapped off my lug wrench at the flat that has the square punch-out that serves as the jack crank handle. Anyone know of a replacement source short of eBay, Ford, and a wrecking yard? The one I broke is pretty cheap-charlie and I'd like to replace it with something better and be able to stow the changing tools in a factory configuration. TIA, RJ

How in the heck did you break it? They might look cheap, but I've never come close to damaging one. I think a wrecking yard is your best source. They can't want much for them. However, if you are "snaping" them off, I think you might be better off buying a pull handle and deep socekt from Sears and storing that in the truck. It might also be a good idea for you to get a beam type torque wrench for tightening the lug nuts - they really aren't suppose to so tight the original lug wrench can't handle them.

I was using it to pry something on my wood-chipper. It broke right at the jack handle socket and the broken part appears to be pot-metal which really surprised me. Maybe the flat hammering/punching process stresses the metal to the point of crystalization. Seems properly stressed mild steel would bend prior to snapping off. I've got a 4-way and a bottle jack and all that, but I don't want all that junk rolling around in the truck and there appears to be nowhere to neatly and securely stow it.

I bought one from the Ford dealer and it didn't cost all that much. I'm thinking it may have been around $7 dollars but it might have been more like $15. Auto parts stores have various kinds but the one I needed was for a '97 and it has a special hole in it.
