Re: 2000 explorer v8 - clicking sound

I have the same problem with my 96 V8. I have heard the same several times from other Explorer V8 owner (5.0 engine) and all say it's an exhaust leak from a cracked exhaust manifold - only takes a hairline crack to cause the noise we hear. Apparently it is a common problem with the Explorer 5.0 V8 but by the time it happens the warranty has usually expired.

How much does it cost to replace both exhaust manifolds (parts and labor) on a '96 V8 AWD?
