88 merc col/park 5.0 starts then dies?

i have a 88 mercury colony park wagon.it has a 5.0 v8 with auto. 60.000 original mile's ( documented ) it ran great.... and then one day out of no where it it started losing power and shuddering. i just made it back to my driveway ( thank god ) and died. now it wont stay started for more the

1-2 seconds, it has fuel pressure ( checked the line ) it has spark ( checked the coil ) it sounds like it wants to stay started but it die's ? any and all help would be greatly appreciated ! i just dont know what else to check ? thank's.

If it has no power at full throttle when in gear, and it dies check the MAP sensor on that car.

opined in news:H4Odnduu5O3 snipped-for-privacy@comcast.com:

Fuel squirting from the line does not mean fuel pressure is good.

Besides the MAP sensor, a likely suspect for the symptom is the fuel pressure regulator. The typical test is to remove the vac line to manifold and see if it has fuel in it. If it does, it's bad. If it doesnt it still could be bad.

After 15 years, just install a new one.

where is the map sensor ? the idle air controller ? and the fuel pressure regulator ? i have no idea where they are i would appreciate some more help thanks.

I know that the map sensor is usually on the right side finderwell (above the right tire) and its a box that has a bunch of wires going to it and one rubber hose going to the throttle body for vaccum.
