Hope this is not against the rules of the group.
Looking for a good reasonable place to get either a rebuilt 3.0 engine or short block (depending on Price).

There are tons of junked taurus out there with good 3.0's. Much easier to find than 3.8's. I would not be afraid of a used one. Its rare a 3.0 does not outlive the car its in.
