There is self confidence, and then there is delusion. Then there is the respect of your peers, and the respect of your clientelle.

If your peers have no respect for you, you have a hard row to hoe. If your clientelle does not respect you, you are of no value to your employer. If no one else respects you, it's pretty hard to have any self confidence. Then bravodo and BS, belittling behaviour and other anti-social tendancies take over.
