White smoke is water. Sounds like a blown head gasket or a massive leak at
the intake manifold where it meets the heads. (There are water passages
Pull the sparkplugs and crank it over. You'll likely have water pumping out
of at least one sparkplug hole.
Every day is a good day- it's just that some are better than others.
White smoke is also unburned gasoline. Since there is a tie in with the
carb and the problem, why would you assume that a car that won't run has a
blown head gasket? There's no cause and effect relationship. I would first
check out the carb, and then look for a large vacuum leak, given that the
car will only run with the choke closed.
