Well he's probably like me and doesn't want the government telling him when to run his lights. I for one will not run headlamps in the daylight. Period. It's stupid.

I know it is sacrilege to mention. I do have a Chevrolet work truck. The day time running lights are turned off by setting one click on the emergency brakes. Our head mechanic says this is quite normal to bypass the system.

Fords don't do that. It'd be nice though.

That's easy. No brains.

My Ford does that, but then why would I want to do that? I paid extra for the Ford parts just so that I would have DRL's on my truck. Some of us enjoy the extra safety that goes with being more visible and the insurance discount that goes with having DRL's.

JP, the DRL's bother me... do you care about that?

It's true that some drivers have complained about excess glare from DRL's, but that's due more to the way different manufacturers apply DRL's than the DRL's themselves. Saturns were noted for being excessively bright a few years ago but they've changed since then. NHTSA has proposed limiting the maximum light output for DRL's, so that should eliminate the glare problem. Now, if they can just do something about drivers that feel a need to run headlights and fog lights at the same time, that would be nice.

Hey - waitaminnit... I've gotta 2003 F250 and I don't have DRL. It surely didn't appear on the options or delete list (was a custom ordered job). I personally don't care much either way, but do any of you know if that's a difference between F250/F350 or is my critter just different?

Thanks Dave

Mine weren't on the option list, but you can check your local Ford dealer to see what the part number would be for your vehicle. The fleet department probably has a better idea, since many fleet purchases have the Daytime Running Lights installed as an option specified by the purchaser.

1 click on the emergency brake should do it without causing the rear brakes to apply.hope this helps

I use this truck for work, and its running almost 24x7 and i dont want the lights on when i'm not driving it. If i set the emergency brakes they could freeze in the icey/wet conditions of wyoming. Rather than replace lamps more often then normal, i'd rather disable them.
