I need to remove the bucket seats from a 2002 Ranger. The bolt is a star head. I have a #55 socket but it is too small and a #60 is too large. Three auto parts stores and the local hardware store says there is nothing in between. Anyone with some helpful ideas?
Don't ask why I need to remove them. Can you say "cat"?

I am pretty sure that they are the #55 socket but now are we talking about the regular front seats not the jump seats right? But I’d say check out your #55 is it worn? If not I’ll try to do some more research to help you, I’ve got a 94 B3000 (same thing as ranger) except I have the full bucket and it’s held by a regular bolt. But check for wear on the #55 and let me know. - Adixon
My 93 Ranger with bucket seats also had a star head which I could not find a proper socket/allen wrench/torx head. I ended up grabbing the bolt head with a vise grip and taking it out that way. Not the best way, but it worked. Steve

If not Allen or Torx it may be what is called a Triple Square, ............. yet another tool to buy!
Never heard of Triple Square. Am I right in that it would be a 12 point head? Mine is six point.

Have you got "google'? type in ..... triple square drive .... and you will see !
also, if the t-55 doesnt fit i think the standard size for ford’s atleast i know the early rangers and bronco’s is a t-47 that’s how got mine out, got me a t-47 bit, the adapter and hooked her on to my impact gun came out in like 10 seconds, try the 47 and let me know thanks - adixon
