I have a 94 LeSebre and I put a trans out 92 LeSebre the problem is it reverse and takes off in either drive or second but never shifts. Could it be thottle postion senser and where is it located?

Thanks much

Doug A.

I may likely be wrong but isn't the 92 a 4T60 and the

94 a 4T60E ?

That sounds right. But why would someone put a tranny in a car that doesn't have all the plugs for the wires to go into? That doesn't sound right.

Steve

That is what I thought too. Don't trust my memory about things like this, though.

When I researched this once before, seems that I found that there is no way in practice to make the E work in that application.

You're good shep. The 1992 is also a 4T60E. However, doing the cross reference, I see this:

the only transmissions listed as compatible are 1994 and 1995 models. My opinion is that the electronics in the 1992 4T60E are not compatible with the 1995 PCM.

Steve

All the plugs were the same and no wires left over. I,m 99% sure that it was a 92 4T60E. I will check this later today. The orginal trans for the 94 had no reverse or any forward gears. I bought the 92 because it was wrecked thought I could use the parts.

But thanks for the info, Doug A.

Doing some more research. The 1992 ECM is 16141470 and the 1995 PCM is

16183247. The 1995 PCM uses the same ALDL8192 communications as my 1995 Monte Carlo 16196401, however the 16183247 uses the 27C512 EPROM while mine uses the 27C256 EPROM.

Aside from that, the 1992 ECM uses the older ALDL160 communictions. So, in conclusion, I agree the problem with the OP's transmission is most likely communication issue. The newer PCM just can't control the old tranny.

Thanks alot everybody for the info I know what I have to do.

thanks again
