99 Tahoe with Gas smell iin the oil

My 99 Tahoe has a gas smell in the oil. My intake manifold gasket is leaking, so this needs to be fixed. Would this the probable cause for the gas smell or should I have the mechanic dig deeper or look in another area to solve this problem. Thanks for your help
