I've got a 1994 Chevy Z34 that has had an automatic transmission (4T60E) > rebuild by the Chevrolet dealer that I bought it from. It has about 10,000 > miles on the transmission since it was rebuilt by them. I bought it from > them with transmission already rebuilt. > Recently when shifting from gear to gear while in drive I hear a sound that > I can > best describe as similar to a bad through out bearing when depressed. > The transmission shifts fine except at the shift points your here that > "bearing sound" for just a few seconds at the shifts. When the shift is > complete the noise is gone until is shifts again. > > Any Ideas? > > NoSpam > > > >

Well I went and spoke to the sales manger at Joseph Chevrolet where I bought this Z34. The only reason that I even went there is because he seamed like a real decent person when I dealt with him on the car. Come to find out the transmission was a GM remanufactured and not rebuilt at the dealer, only installed by them. I asked him was there any way that he could get them to warranty the transmission as I'm the first owner since it was replaced. He said he could get them to do it, all he had to do was tell them to warranty it. He wanted me to agree to paying for the diagnosis so that if it wasn't the transmission at fault that I would pay for repairs. I agreed. Well they told me that it had internal pressure losses and that's why 1st to

2nd shifting was erratic. Longer store short they have one on order and will cover the costs.

It never hurts to go and talk man to man with someone and keep a cool head. He earned more of my business today when I got the news.

Good work! Most (if not all) of the crazies coming into the dealership raising supreme shit, don't end up getting any help.

Then again, if the trans was a "SERTA" (GM's rebuilt transmissions) they are usually warranted for 3 years/80k klms. So, unless the car has only gone 10,000 miles in over 3 years, you should have been covered anyway.
