ses light on

my friend 94 chevy lumina van , 3.8 engine..with a code 341 (cam sensor), can some tell us what goes bad on this engine it has 183,000 miles on it too, & how much it might cost at a shop to repair it?

The common problem is that the cam position sensor interrupter (magnet) falls out of the camshaft sprocket. The approved repair is to remove the camshaft sprocket and replace the interrupter. The interrupter is installed from the back side of sprocket. With this type of mileage on the vehicle replacing the timing chain set is in order.
