Study: Cash For Clunkers Was A Wash

No, but that is the socialist view of capitalism. Their answer is to choke off the 'strong' via regulations and taxes, equalize the "weak', and let them all die together,as opposed to letting every do the best they can, make all they can make, and everyone benefits. For the life of me, I cannot understand the mindset that the rich either takes away from the poor, or keeps the poor from getting richer in the first place.

Have no idea of what you are talking about. Entitlements, perhaps???????????????

A poor person who works for something,in the end, may not have much, but he earned it. A non working person, who draws entitlemnents, EARNED nothing!

More sociaistic thinking. The word 'more", by definition, means, "greater than". So, if a person makes a million dollars and gets taxed

10 percent will pay 100 thousand dollars in taxes, while the person who makes 1000 will get taxed for 100 dollars. Clearly, the guy that makes a million dollars a year, by definiton pays more in taxes, so in the socialist's eye, the word "more", must be replaced by the word "fair." Suddenly the guy making a million per year is paying 400 thousand a year in taxes, while the guy making 1000 a year is getting 3000 in refunds via tax "credits", and still, this is not enough, in the socialists eyes. The guy making a million a year must be "punished" even more, because he is surely the reason why the other guy is only making a thousand dollars a year.

Bingo!!! But even "almost' real socialism kills incentives to do anything.

Horrible, and stupid. A great example of why socialism does not work,

Simple. In a true free market system, GM would have gone banrupt three or four years ago, and I have no doubt would have emerged better quicker than in the governement had not intrevened. And even if they had gone belly up, there would have been a lot of other companies ready to fill the void that GM left. Simple supply and demand. When left alone, it works wonderfully.

A lot of us here felt that GM made a damned good product.

The cars and trucks they made were as good as anyone elses.

The business side of GM was a different story.

Pure capitalism is still at large between rich countries and poor countries.

There used to be people who believed that the poor countries would become rich by selling stuff to the rich countries but it is not happening.

The poorer countries are getting poorer and are being robbed blind by multinationals.

Unfortunately for the multinationals there are people looking into their thieving behavior and informing on all kinds of child labor etc.

Pure capitalism has not been practiced in the US as a whole for a long time but the multinationals are hard at it all over the world and especially in Africa.

So in many places around the world where multinationals are exploiting the country there is a growing hatred towards the exploiters.

In interesting observation is that many of the multinationals are based in Europe but still the hatred in the countries are mostly directed towards the US as is well known.
