towing a 2001 4wd AT Tracker on a dolly

I'd like to tow our 2001 4wd AT Tracker with a tandem (motorcycle/car) dolly. GM customer service stated to tow it REAR wheels on dolly with steering UNLOCKED. Has anyone done this? Won't the car fish tail all over the place with steering unlocked? Please advise, Tim fm CT

Personally I would just disconnect the rear drive shaft and tow it with the nose on the dolly. MUCH less worry about it.

using a tow dolly - Book says tow with rear wheels on the dolly, wheel unlocked, WITH a clamping device on the steering wheel to lock the wheels straight ahead.

Make SURE that if you have automatic front hubs that they are unlocked.

Also says you can flat tow that vehicle- Tow bar to the front, Trans in park, wheel unlocked, transfer case in neutral. BUT you must stop every 200 miles and start the engine and put the trans in gear so that you can circulate the oil in the case to keep the bearings lubed..
