Overheating Issues

Oct 04, 2004 2 Replies

My engine is pinging due to heat. My radiator hadn't been getting hot though but now is. I noticed water leaking under the radiator slowly and put stop leak in which stopped the leak; however my radiator and engine is still getting hot. I appreciate any available advice.

Thanks, CoreyMDean

Corey,

There are lots of reasons an engine would overheat. Here are some: Stuck thermostat Bad radiator cap Leaking coolant Clogged radiator passages Leaking head gasket Lean fuel/air mixture Blocked airflow to/from radiator Worn out fan clutch Low oil level

If you know you have a coolant leak, I'd start there. Find it and fix it. This may be difficult, now that you've put in "stop leak".
