I found the problem and got it resolved. It was the idle control valve.
It was a totaly nightmare to get the mechanic to fix it because the diagnosis would not show the valve as being defective until the stalling occured. I literally forced the mechanic to use the truck as his personal vehicle until it stalled for him and then he was able to diagnose the valve.
