Hi guys. Right my question is regading my Fathers 2001 S type Jag. Weve been trying to sort out his heater problems. First off the expansion tank sprung a leak, and the that led to the cab = heaters failing. I think that was down to Rad Weld, as he put a bottle of that cack in = the system to try and cure the water leak first off.
I sorted out the expansion tank with a brand new bottle and hose, and = then the heater still would not work. Looked the problem up, and tracked it down to the Twin Solonoids down at = the front of the car next to the main rad. Whiped Those Out (New ones to pricey) then Stripped it down and cleaned = them up, Then bench tested them.=20 Seemed to work OK.=20
Thing is when I replace it and fill up the system the heater only works = for a short period before going cold again. Very strang. First off the passanger side gets hot, I pop off the Green Hose to bleed = the system, and then the Drivers side gets hot too. So both Passanger and Driver sides are piping hot. Go for a short drive, = and the problems return.=20 Drivers side then starts to go cold, and 20 mins later the passanger = side follows. Both sides are then stone cold. No matter when I do the thing stays = cold.?
Ive taken the Soloniod out Twice now, and stripped it down, so I know it = works fine. Both times it did seem to have some cack in it though.! The only thing the worries me about the thing is how stupidly close the = tolorances are in the valve. Both times I flushed out the system with cold water to get rid of any = Rad Weld.
What am i doing Wrong ?? Any help welcome.
