HSMO alternatives?

Nov 14, 2003 4 Replies

I need to top up the Hydraulic System on my 87 XJ40, my local auto parts shops stocks a LHM fluid which is green and claims is compatible with 'certain Jaguars and Rolls Royces'.

My question is will this mineral oil be safe to use?

The question of why the level is low will have to be resolved at a later date!

Thanks

Tristan

Buy it from your local Jag dealer, it comes with the proper tube and it's normally cheaper honest

I've kind of answered myself!

I rang my local Jag specialist and aparantly the HSMO used on Citroens is exactly the same as used by Jaguar (chemical testing proves this).

£5.99/litre.

But from the Jag delaer you get it in the proper container with the correct spout on it which fits into the hole on the thingy (started getting too technical there).

Well it is true that green HMSO fuid is a drag to get and i been leaking the fluid all summer!!! arse to fix for me anyway.

The point is.......i got one tub of theHMSO from jaguar then pop on down to a regular motor factors and get 5 liters of the stuff for £8 or something dead cheap. BARGIN!!!!

Take care kids......TommyBaby
