Re: Any series 1 E-Type owners out there?

[absolutely nothing...]

Why yes, yes there are.

Any particular reason you're asking?

Hi and thanks for replying. I'm almost finished the restoration of my series 1 1/2 that I've owned for 27 years. As part of it, I'm modifying the headlight sockets to cure my long standing case of 'series 1 envy'. This involved making a mold and forming my own Plexiglass covers. I'm now ready to form the chrome surround but have no actual item to go by. I live in rural New Brunswick (Canada) and there are no series 1's anywhere around here. I'm hoping you would be kind enough to send me measurements and a scale profile of the surround piece. I'd love some detail pictures if you could manage it. If you're willing to help in this endeavor, please e-mail me and I'll send you pictures of my project. Again, thanks! Bob.

The chrome surrounds, the glass and the sugar scoops are readily available.

The hole for the headlamp is smaller on the Series 1.

I modified mine using parts from a donor bonnet.

There is a company in Germany that makes replacement s for Series 2& 3, but doesn't make for series 1-1/2 yet.

I also have a 1-1/2, but I have replaced all of the cosmetics in it except for the doors. Dash, seats, bonnet, etc. are all Series 1.

Interesting... Do you have a link or address for this German company? I used a set of spare sugar scoops from a junker and modified them by reversing the inside flange and setting it further back in the scoop so that the lights would fit inside a cover. I also had to make new wheel well panels as the rear of the light now intrudes further into this area. . As much as I wanted to replace the bonnet, the cost was out of the question, mine wasn't in bad shape anyway. Bob.
