12.5 x 33 on stock 15x7 .. SAFE? other seem to think so...

I posted the other day and got some good responses, but then, not sure why the posts were removed???

Anyways... I've heard online and at my local tire place that people will mount a

12.5" x 33" on a stock 15"x7" rim. I currently have 10.5 x 31 mounted and it looks nice, but not fat enough for my taste.

The manager at Tire Kingdom told me he'd mount it and others say they've been running 12.5" on a 7" for years - though it's generally discouraged by tire and rim manufactures .. they recommend at least

8". In my case I like the look of a fat tire on thinner rim, I even prefer the tire wearing near the middle first (as they always tend to wear on the edges). I'm not an expert, but also think narrow rims will help with steering alignment.

So.. Any really good reason I should not do this?

Many thanks for any help or information..

The only thing that comes to my mind is the loss of traction from the wider tire. But if you don't have to drive in snow on the roads it doesn't much matter. It's fun to always get stuck in the mud right? If you are just desert rock crawling, they will be great...
