1986 'Nuttered' CJ7 4.2L Canadian Emissions Data

Yup, I got the hot rod status for my first test, but then they figured out a 258 was a 258 no matter if it came with a 1 bbl with no emissions or a 2 bbl with a computer so I had to pass the real test for the 86 CJ7.

well i know my jeep doesn't go that fast. feels like it could with some tuning but right now it can't.

next question it the test start for 86 and on vehicles or does it rotate with time. as in 19 yrs back from the current year?

all I know is if I run my jeep parked in the same spot there will appear a black mark on the pavement where the exhaust is.

obviously to rich. lots of carbon.

Yep test covers cars 20 yrs to 3 yrs old. so by right this should be the last test your Jeep will need as it will be 21 yrs old next time the test is required.

That's the problem, they have a computer that tells them, too bad the person who programmed the computer didn't know there might be a difference.

I think I will have to do one more in 08 as this test will cover my renewal for 2006 then skips 2007 then 2008 another test. somehow I got away with not having to have the test done when it transfer owners they are letting me ride till 2006 plate renewal but I want to get it done while I have the money.... well time for me to drive it to the garage now

My 86 will no longer have to pass any more tests! The next one is due in 2007 and it will be over 20 years old then.

I have to/should stop by Kingston soon anyway, the gent that built my CJ7's 'glass body lives there and he offered to help me fix the crack that happened when I rolled her.

well took to shop and then got a call 2 hrs later. the hard drive in the dyno gave out. only a certified tech can gain entry to the cabinet for the dyno so my appointment has been reset for Monday nest week. also after discussing it with tech and him discussing with another tech they are going to do a do over with my test as they as certain that the standards are different. between 4.0L and 4.2L that will be in my advantage (do over is free). so the saga continues.
