95 XJ valve cover replacement

Jul 09, 2005 2 Replies

OK the wife's XJ is leaking oil, every resource I check warns you that if the original gasket is damaged that the whole valve cover needs to be replaced. All of the replacement valve covers that I've seen on-line have a statement about potentially requiring drilling and tapping new holes?!!!

Where can I get a 'drop' in replacement valve cover without paying through the nose? I figure I should just replace the whole kit and caboodle cause if I take it off and the original gasket is damaged I am dead in the water.

thanks

Where did you read that??? when I replaced my valve cover gasket a couple years ago the shop used the original cover when they re-installed. The only time I have heard of someone replacing the cover is when it was made of the plastic stuff.
