$18K is cheap? I spent $500 on my XJ, $3k on my YJ. I'll stick with Jeeps, thank you very much.

Isnt a Low-Flow exhaust a bad thing? I'd want a hi-flow exhaust for more hp.

It's a USA thing, most Americans don't want to exercise their left foot.

Modern computer-controlled automatics don't waste nearly as much power at the rear wheels as in the past. Still, it tends to further isolate the driver from the road.

Hey, does that 404 that shows up on the website refer to cubic inches or horsepower?

404 is the number of times it has been in for service.

Most Vette owners buy the cars because of it's image, not because they really want to drive the cars like real sports cars, and automatics fit those kinds of folks better.

It's actually kind of a shame, from everything I've read modern Corvettes are amazing cars, I doubt most of the owners have even a remote clue about what their cars are capable of.

Although... I guess the same thing could be said of most Jeep owners, although obviously not the kind of Jeepers that hang out in this newsgroup!

Well THAT is a generalization. It's the manufacturers, now a days the manufacturers build the autos and you ahve to look like hell to find a standard.

If I didn't have a bad left hind leg, I'd still be driving a clutch.

If you lived in Europe, you'd have to look like hell to find an automatic, and it would probably be a Mercedes. Even the taxis have manual shift. They really work it driving in heavy traffic too.

I'll bet they do. I used to commute to California's Bay Area in my Cobra, it was always fun coming home but when you drive a clutch it's just second nature. I'm looking back and I'll guess that 90% of my rigs have been standards. I made my daughters learn to drive in a standard, now they won't drive anything else.

The Vette can be had with a real transmission.

However, for most owners, an automatic is faster since not that many owners know how to speed shift properly.

I was expecting a 3 inch lift given where it is being advertised.

Yeah, all those woosie Formula 1 cars, not many sticks amongst them. Guess them limp wristed F1 drivers can't handle real transmissions. Just because they can stop just about as fast from 150 as the typical passenger car does when hitting a brick wall....

OK, so they are really not automatics as in slush boxes, just electromechanical whizzbangs that can shift faster than any human ever could.

At least it isn't a Chevvie 2 speed automatic and the Blue Flame 6 like the original Corvette, although I'd not expect *that* model to go for a lousy 18K.

Most of the exotics and higher end sports sedans are either auto or manumatic or dsg. Paddle shifters obligatory for the hard core types. That would be woosie brands like Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, etc. as opposed to hard core Fiat s*tboxes with sticks.

Given the choice, most Americans will buy an automatic, & over the years the manufacturers realized it, that's why manuals are so hard to find.

Ask GM. They won't put a car on the showroom floor unless it's an auto. If you want a 6-speed, be prepared to order it. At least Ford has the right idea with Mustangs - probably 3/4 of their stock are manuals. That might explain the end of the Camaro/Firebird.

As for Corvettes, once it's a few years old, you can't give one away that's an automatic. Probably explains why the OP is spamming newsgroups with off topic ads trying to get rid of his.

If you know someone having trouble giving one away, give them my name.

It's probably the one the MythBusters show used to test the smell of dead pig in.
