Brake Light Problem / 2000 JGC

I have a difficult brake light problem. This problem started some time ago. My left brake light is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I replaced the bulb. For a while, it worked ok. Then it is again intermittent. But now, I have compounded the problem. Now, I cannot rotate the brake light housing out of the entire rear light assembly, so that I can check the bulb again or do other testing. I must have reinstalled the bulb housing the wrong way, by twisting it in the wrong direction, but it is so tight, I cannot possibly get the bulb housing out of the light assembly.

Any ideas on this? Will I likely have to replace the entire light assembly ? If so, what is the best source for this ? I know there is a private Chyrsler Parts company online or some name like that. Is that a good source?

Today, I got stopped by a state trooper, and got a warning ticket for this ! Now, I really have to figure out this problem, but of course I really want to have my brake lights working properly anyhow.

I would appreciate any advice or direction on this problem.

Thanks !!

I had one stick before, there is a gasket between the bulb holder and the lamp assembly. I CAREFULLY turned it with a pair of pliers and before reassembly I opened up each of the lamp units and gave the gasket a VERY light coating of Wurth HHS2 by spraying on my finder and wiping it around. DO not get any grease of skin oils on the bulbs themselves.

Check the bulb holder socket and bulb base for corrosion. Clean and grease the contacts to prevent further oxidation.
