Grand Cherokee 2001 - lift gate + trans + chk engine

Oct 06, 2007 3 Replies

well.... looks like our 2001 Grand Cherokee is bleeding money :)

Just had the electric cooling fan replaced for $$$$ and now, 3 other things have broken today -

1 - auto trans will not "start" in 1st gear... coming to a complete stop, it slightly lurches into 2nd vs 1st

2 - check engine light just came on - maybe related to trans ?

3 - and the rear lift gate & window release will not work ? It sounded like the relay was buzzing when the unlock was toggled, but maybe it's a fuse ? - will check when son gets home.

SO - really looking forward to Monday :(

well - here's the tranny diag and cost... just for future ref & searching

checked for codes, and found code for govenor pressure voltage to high/low.

Found govenor pressure sensor and transducer shorted internally. Removed trans pan, removed valve body, replaced pressure sensor & transducer, and reinstalled and resealed trans pan, refilled system..

56028196 transducer $75 4617210 solenoid $118 gasket,filter, fluid for refill $75

labor 2.4hrs @ $117 = $289

total parts + labor = $558

But then you won't have to worry about changing the fluid. God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@aol.com
