and thats where we'll have to agree to disagree. i hold them both responsible for it because the government wouldnt do it without being solicited to do so.
I see, so it's better to subsidize the thugs in the unions but not Walmart?
Here's an example of what the fine folks at the UFCW union are capable of:

Reminds me of something I read about the "Walmartization of America". Walmart drives local businesses out by undercutting their prices (partly by having the cheapest labor costs around, by using non-union, low-cost labor). This eliminates jobs. The thing is, everyone goes there for the cheapest prices. Boycotting Walmart definitely makes sense to me.

You're a real dickweed for slaggin on unions. I'll tell ya what pal, why don't you go down to your local teamsters union, or maybe the UAW and tell them what you think of unions. All I can guess is you're a dickweed that's never really had to work for a living in his entire life. Let me guess, you're a lawyer?
The local supermarkets here in SoCal went on strike a few months back, not for higher wages but to keep their medical benefits intact. The a-holes in management didn't want to flip the bill for medical benefits anymore.

Nope, not a lawyer, just someone who made something of themselves without relying on corrupt groups. I was part of a union once. I was forced to join when I had no need for them at all. Making minimum wage and they took a good percentage of that for NOTHING back to me.
Unions were "useful" once. Not so much anymore.
"why d> You're a real dickweed for slaggin on unions. I'll tell ya what pal, why don't
What about the SoCal supermarket strike? The union stood up the management's great idea to make supermarket employees pay for their health benefits (while management still gets it for free). Without the union, these people would have been screwed.
I have heard similar stories about unions that were "do nothings" for their members. But the above story makes me beleive unions still make a difference for some people.
