Jeepers Jamboree Museum in California

There is allegedly one of the first two Willys jeeps in Placerville. Given that Placerville is a mere wide spot on historic/scenic California Hwy 49, you might get good pointers by contacting the Placerville city folks themselves with snippets from the articles claiming the history jeep is there.

Or try the folks at Georgetown, just a cowpie throw down the road.

There is a historic jeep site in Placerville that keeps track of old serial numbers, but it is under construction at the moment.

PS. Thanks for posting, next time I run over to Reno or Tahoe [unfortunately not for a while] will stop off and see if I can find the thing. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to walk all over town.

PSPS. If you want some *serious* brownie points, send your dad to Reno and rent him a Jeep and have him drive from Reno down to Carson, then up to Tahoe and cut off Hwy 50 just west of South Tahoe and head down to Placerville on Ca Hwy 49. And then back east over the Sonora Pass as there are a coupla really really old military jeeps that hang out on the east side of Sonora.

Sonora is only 35 miles from here, i don't know of any MBs parked along the road. My Girlfriend lives in Placerville, I don't see any Jeep museum in the phone book, but in nearby Georgetown is listed a 'jeep jamboree USA' and 'jeepers jamboree', different addresses, (530) 333-4777, (530) 333-4771.

Hiway 50, 80, and 88 are open, but sonora and ebbets passes are closed for the winter.

I think it's a private museum. I was hoping someone had been there and could tell me where it's at. Thanks for the reply.
