Bill, I'm surprised you didn't post the pic of the tow strap through the seat.

I was in clay, in a swampy area that has been flooded for about 20 years. After we got out of the mud, my brother said he had a 4 wheeler stuck there about a week earlier, and almost didn't get it out. We looked for a come-a-long, but couldn't find it. The tires on the tractor are about 5 feet tall, and it couldn't pull me out. A come-a-long probably would have broken, I had the frame on the ground. When I get a winch, it will probably be the Warn 9500ti. I will probably get a come-a-long until then, and also use my highlift to pull with. A lift with bigger tires might have helped a little bit.

When in mud, are you supposed to air up or down? I was at normal psi, just wondering if less would have been better. Also learned the best way to bust up a beaver dam is to drive over it. I know tread lightly, but they are destroying farm land, so we are trying to encourage them to move without having to kill them. I am also thinking a boat anchor tied to the jeep will work to pull it throught the dam to bust it up.

I forgot to mention, I went to Gatlinburg, TN, and got 18 miles to the gallon. I thought it would be alot less. All the travel was on backroads. I figured going over the mountains would take less gas, bit didn't. I can't wait to see what it will be when the computer gets to know me.

I'm glad you haven't had a bad experience with one, Bill. My dad had a cheap one and the rope broke and cut his leg quite nastily. I bought him a tirfor thing after that which was allegedly the same rating (3 ton) - very nice piece of kit indeed to have. (and the price was several hundred bucks more than the cheapo one that broke).

That sure is a case of 'you get what you pay for'!!!!!

If you stay with the brand name tools, the odds are you will be happy with them.

The problem with these 'fence tighteners' is there are so many cheap knock offs.

I is like the original Canadian 'Jack All' brand of barn lifting and post pulling jacks. First the Americans imitated it with their cheaper and lighter 'High Lift' jack, then the asians have imitate it with 'really' cheaply made 'no name' ones. The North American made ones are still good quality.
